The National Young Artist Music Competitions (NAMCYA) have been home to talented young Filipino artists for nearly 50 years – from learning and advancing their craft as musicians and singers to breakthrough.
The second half of the year for NAMCYA was filled with competitions not just in Metro Manila, but across the Philippines. They have traveled through cities to discover Filipino talent and give them the opportunity to showcase their gift to the world.
The semi-finals began in Metro Manila on August 30, 2019 and lasted for the entire month of September in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. At the same time as the semifinals, NAMCYA offered a free traditional music workshop to all teachers in what they refer to as “Mentoring the Mentors”.
The national finals competition begins on November 26, 2019 through November 29, 2019 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). After that there will be three concerts.
The solo winners concert will be held at the CCP on November 30, 2019, at the same time as the traditional music and Rondalla outreach concert in the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium in the Labs Kita Sabado program on the same day and the winners’ concert on May 1. December, 2019. The final competition and concerts are public and free. You can request your tickets for the final competition and concerts in the CCP lobby.
