One of the first music festivals after the coronavirus restrictions were eased is slated to take place in Essex later this month.
The event will see a number of well-known names from the music scene performing at the event.
The Secret Island Festival takes place on Mersea Island and begins on Saturday, July 24th – just five days after the government is scheduled to lift coronavirus restrictions.
Headliners include acclaimed DJ Mark Knight, who joined radio station KISS FM earlier this year, and YouTube DJ SUAT, whose channel has over a million views for his DJ performances in bizarre locations.
Ben Wass, 44, one of the main organizers of the Secret Island Festival, is excited to host the first music festival since the Covid restrictions were lifted.

He said, “It’s really exciting. We didn’t want to host an event too soon before June 21st because it seemed too risky given the uncertainty. We deliberately tried to keep it as far away from this date as possible and luckily it seems to be right. ”
Mr Wass added that the line-up for the event was also an enticing prospect.
“YouTuber SUAT is definitely one of the main characters,” he said. “We also have Grammy-nominated Mark Knight – he’s our headliner. It was only confirmed today so it looks good.
“We are the first festival to take place after the closure has ended, so we are very happy to be able to get something back on its feet for everyone.”
The Secret Island Festival has a special resonance for Mr. Wass, as he was born and raised on Mersea Island before founding his music company Ultrafunkula in 1996.
“In the past few years we’ve had a few sold out events in my hometown of Mersea and because of our success we’ve teamed up with a landowner who is really happy to help us host more festivals.
“This year we are taking off and in the next five to ten years we want to expand and expand.”
