After 18 months of restrictions, Alderley Edge Methodist Church is excited to host a series of matinee concerts on the third Wednesday of the month.
The series begins with a recital on September 15 by violist Beth Willett, accompanied by Hector Leung.
Beth Willett is currently starting her graduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music with Vicci Wardman. Beth is an enthusiastic chamber musician, especially as a violist in the Innsӕi String Quartet. With this ensemble Beth traveled to Holland to take part in the Orlando Festival with master classes and a concert tour through Europe and was also recognized as a finalist in two RNCM chamber music competitions.
In addition to chamber music, Beth is also a passionate orchestral musician, whose orchestral highlights include a one-year internship at the BBC Philharmonic and a trip to Italy as part of the Cantiere Internazionale D’Arte.
As a committed pianist and accompanist, Hector Leung Wai Hang often works with various instrumentalists and singers. Since March 2021, Hector has been giving socially distant live concerts at Stoller Hall and St. Ann’s Church in Manchester; and more than thirty-five other recitals within
RNCM only within a short month.
Hector studied piano with the main teachers Colin Stone and Dina Parakhina and completed his master’s and FRSM diploma with honors in 2017. During his studies he had the opportunity to study a work for oboe and piano by the British composer Tansy at Wigmore Hall. to perform Davies; the opportunity to play Bloch’s cello works at Bridgewater Hall in October 2015; and premiered “Crimson Verse” for tenor and piano by RNCM composer Joseph Shaw at the 2016 Leeds Lied Festival.
The concert starts at 2 p.m. and lasts about 45 minutes. Entry is £ 10 and includes light refreshments served after the concert.
